Pope John Paul II today accepted the resignation of embattled Boston Archbishop Cardinal Bernard Law. Facing mounting pressure to quit over his handling of the church sexual abuse scandal, Law issued an apology, saying he hoped the move will help bring about "healing, reconciliation and unity."
