Volgens Netherlands Consulate-General komen de volgende Engelse woorden uit het Nederlands:

Citaat
- Boss comes from the Dutch word BAAS
- Cookie comes from the Dutch word KOEKJE
- Coleslaw comes from the combination of two Dutch words: KOOL (cabbage) and SLA (salad)
- Dumb comes from the Dutch word DOM
- Golf comes from the Dutch word KOLF, originally a Dutch Game
- Dollar comes from Daalder
- Yankee comes from the typical Dutch name JAN KEES

(weet iemand of er ook dit soort informatie sites zijn voor Nederlanders in Amerika??? Dus wat de grote verschillen zijn opgesomt [zoals b.v. het tippen, maar ook dacht ik prijzen zonder belasting {hoeveel komt er bij dan b.v.?} of hoe een job interview of andere zakelijk dingen gaan daar etc.????)

Citaat
For restaurants, a tip of 5-10% is usually sufficient. Some restaurants automatically include a gratuity in the bill. If the gratuity is included in the bill and you were pleased with the service, you may leave an extra tip. Since tipping is expected, be sure to ask if the gratuity is included in the bill whenever you are in doubt.

When traveling by taxi, round out to the closest guilder. Chambermaids should be left 1 to 2 guilders per day. When you are given a hand towel by a washroom attendant, be sure to tip the person 25 Dutch cents.

Deze twee stukken staan in de bovenstaande links. "Tipping is expected"? Ik zou eerder zeggen op "they are hoping for a tip", haha.

Bijvoorbeeld:

Citaat
Johny (noun, male) A non-intellectual male person note Pejorative use of the male first name once popular in Dutch working class. Also 'Johnny' or 'Sjonnie'. Often used in conjunction with its female equivalent 'Anita'. Example: "Elke Johny rijdt een Opel Manta."

Al met al heb ik me gisteravond zeer vermaakt met deze sites, flink gelachen af en toe ;D
