Hallo,

Currently the following countries participate in the VWP: Andorra*, Austria, Australia, Belgium*, Brunei*, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein*, Luxembourg, Monaco, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia*, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom.

Hai,

A visa is issued by a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. A visa entitles the holder to travel to the United States and apply for admission; it does not guarantee entry. An immigration inspector at the port of entry determines the visa holder's eligibility for admission into the United States.

All non-immigrant visa applicants between the ages of 14 and 79 must appear in person at the Consulate General in Amsterdam for an interview and finger scanning as part of the application process.

All applicants must make an appointment by calling 020 794 0808 (€ 15/call, payable by credit card only) *if you schedule an appointment, you will receive a confirmation number. More...
A, G and NATO visa applicants are exempt from these requirements. More...
We do not accept walk-in applicants nor can you make an appointment by calling the Consulate or the Embassy directly.  All appointments at all times must be made by calling 020 794 0808.

Each applicant must provide a self-addressed, stamped registered envelope (€ 5.75) for return of their passport and visa by mail within the Netherlands. Passports and visas will be mailed to applicants within a few days of the day they applied. Same-day issuance of visas is not possible.

A non-refundable application fee of €85 is charged for every applicant. This fee must be paid into the Consulate's ABN/AMRO bank account, number 51.54.83.184 before the applicant comes to the Consulate General for a visa interview. Please provide your full name and passport number at the time of payment. You may also pay by PIN at the Consulate. Cash is not accepted. Original proof of payment must be submitted at the Consulate with each application. (*A, G and NATO visa applications do not require this fee or an appointment. More...)

How to keep your visit to the Consulate as short as possible

   1. Use a scannable visa application form DS-156
   2. Do not bring your mobile phone, camera, lap top or any other electronic item with you.
   3. Do not bring a rucksack or other bulky bag.
   4. Make sure your photograph is the correct size and that it meets the other requirements
   5. Do not bring children younger than 14 to the visa interview.  However, do make sure you have a scannable visa application for each child, with a picture that meets our requirements, and that you have paid the visa application fee for each child.
   6. Bring a bank receipt showing you have paid a visa application fee for each individual submitting an application, or plan to pay that fee at the Consulate, using a Dutch pin card.  (Sorry, we cannot accept cash, credit card or any other form of payment for the visa application fee.)

What documents do you need?

Each visa applicant must bring the following to the scheduled interview. It is up to the applicant to submit documents used by the Consular Officer to determine visa eligibility.

    * A Nonimmigrant Visa Application (DS-156), completed and signed by each applicant. Priority Service will be given to applicants who use the scannable (electronic) DS-156 forms. Please complete the DS-156 form and press "continue" at the bottom before printing. Make sure the third page, containing a bar code, is printed.
    * A Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application Form (DS-157) required for all male applicants between 16 and 45 years of age).
    * A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months* beyond the intended period of stay in the United States. (* Not applicable to Dutch passport holders). If more than one person is included in the passport, each person desiring a visa must make an application.
    * A recent photograph. Use only U.S. size pictures. Please do not use Dutch passport photo sizes. More..
    * A paid receipt for the € 85 visa-processing fee, or a Dutch PIN Card for Payment at the Consulate.
    * A self-addressed return envelope with € 5.75 postage.  For each applicant.
    * Additional documents that verify the purpose of travel and your intent to return to your permanent residence upon completion of your visit to the U.S.

In addition, please provide the following evidence in support of your planned travel:

Business: Provide a letter from your employer describing in detail your planned activities in the U.S. The letter should explain why the business requires your presence in the U.S., the source of funds for expenses in the U.S. (including salary, commissions, travel and incidental expenses), and an itinerary noting the length of your planned trip;

Pleasure: Evidence of permanent ties to a home outside the U.S., such as a residence permit, work contract, letter from your employer, verification of enrollment and attendance at school, bank statements, and documentation regarding property ownership. Other information may include plans/itinerary for your trip and evidence of finances adequate to fund your planned stay.

Non Residents: It is very difficult for non-residents of The Netherlands to demonstrate ties to another country. You are encouraged to apply for visas in your home country. Residents of countries without a U.S. Mission should apply at a designated processing post for their country of residence.

Students and Exchange Visitors: Forms I-20A/B or DS-2019, DS-158, and proof of funding. Special afternoon application times have been reserved for Dutch students, but an appointment is required. You must bring a scannable DS-156 for admission during these hours. Students and exchange visitors who are not Dutch citizens must make an appointment for the morning hours. Call 020-794-08 08 to make an appointment*. There is a €15 fee to make an appointment, payable only by credit card. Please have a credit card available when you place the call. *If you schedule an appointment, you will receive a confirmation number. More...

Temporary Workers and Intra-company Transferees: An approved petition (original form I-797A or B) and evidence that you are qualified to perform the work intended.

Visa Issuance: Due to the requirements of biometric processing, we cannot provide same-day issuance. Please plan to be without your passport for at least three working days after your interview to allow for visa issuance and return. Some applicants may be subject to additional clearances or administrative procedures that may add weeks to the processing time. Do NOT make travel commitments or purchase tickets until the visa has been received.
