DepartureSan Diego - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 04 Sep, 2009 03:25:45This morning, 6 AM Dutch time, Walter and I walked to the train station of Zevenbergen to take the train to schiphol. Our train should come at 6:17.
Once arrived at the train station they mentioned they train was delayed because of copper robbery. We walked to the bus to go to Breda first, but then we saw the train moving. Eventually the train was 20-30 minutes delayed.
On schiphol everything went ok. We didn't have to wait and we could board a few minutes after we arrived. On board we had a DVD screen with navigation, games, movies, tv and music.
On Atlanta airport the same. We left the airplane, walked to the luggage caroussel, took the luggage, took the shuttle to our gate, boarded and that's it.
At the moment Walter and I are waiting for the other guys to arrive at San Diego airport.
First days San DiegoSan Diego - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 05 Sep, 2009 17:08:06We were lucky the day of arrival, because Frank and Mats airplane was earlier as planned. After they got their luggage we walked to the shuttle stop to take the shuttle to our car rental.
At he car rental Walter and I got the Chrysler Sebring and Frank and Mat a Mercury grandpa car. After a 15 minute drive we arrived at our hostel, which is relatively small and cheap, but good enough to sleep 2 days, and directly at the beach.
The second day we went back to the car rental because Frank hired a dodge charger and not a mercury. Because the guy there spoke Dutch he gave us the Charger and told us to save a lot of money on the reservation.
Back at the hostel we went to the Subway for lunch, the supermarket and than straight to the beach.
In the evening we ate at Hooters. Later Walter and I took the car to drive through the Gaslight District, Old town and Colonardo, which was nice.
Today we're going to visit the Zoo or Seaworld and the we're heading to LA.
Last daySan Diego - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 07 Sep, 2009 03:42:43Yesterday was our last day in San Diego.
Walter and I went to the San Diego Zoo and for another city trip. Frank and the other guys went out for lunch and went on a boat tour in the San Diego Harbour.
After the trip we went to the Mexican in Old Town to get some food and live music.
Around 8PM we left heading to LA which took us like 2,5 hours to drive. Right now we are in LA.
First night + dayLos Angeles - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 07 Sep, 2009 04:04:16The first night in LA was a lot more comfortable than San Diego. We have a 6 persons room with airconditioning.
For today we we went to Griffith Observatory and Frank, Matt, Sam and Freddy went to a LA dodgers game while Walter and I went for a city tour by car through Beverly Hills and Bell air.
Tonight we're going to a place in the street here called Farmers market, looking for some food. Next to the Farmers Market is the Grove (
http://www.thegrovela.com/) where we're going to take a look.
The GroveLos Angeles - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 07 Sep, 2009 17:29:32As said Walter and I went to the Grove. It's a very nice shopping and dining place. We walked around and ended eventually in the Italian.
Last day + nightLos Angeles - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 08 Sep, 2009 08:15:38Today we went to Venice beach whole day to get our sexy beach boy color.
For dinner we went to Jack in the Box. We spent the rest of the evening at the Walk Of Fame at the Hollywood Boulevard.
On the wayGrand Canyon - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 09 Sep, 2009 06:50:53Today we left LA heading to the Williams, our stop on the way to the Grand Canyon. It was a long drive (approx. 8 hours), but nice.
We took the historical route 66 from Needles, Kingman, Selingman, Williams which was very nice. Old Gas stations, old places.
We have a small chalet to stay the night with 3 of us (Walter, Frank and I). The others went camping.
Grand CanyonGrand Canyon - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 11 Sep, 2009 02:30:48Early in the morning we went to the Grand Canyon.
We stayed in a Maswik lodge which was very nice. After checking in we went to the end taking the shuttle and walked back over the South Rim, taking a lot of pictures.
In the evening we barbecued at the camping place of Freddie and Sam.
Las Vegas pt. 1Las Vegas - Posted by Frank 11 Sep, 2009 18:23:35Hey luitjes!
Last nightLas Vegas - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 15 Sep, 2009 04:18:35The last night in Vegas Frank, Walter and I went to the Stratosphere tower to have an overview of the old and the new strip.
The last day we went to the gunstore for some shooting.
Death valleyFrom las vegas we drove to Death Valley and stayed there one night. The place is very very amazing.
Old townBodie - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 15 Sep, 2009 05:09:54Before we went to Yosemite National Park this morning, we went to Bodie, an old, abandoned village South of the place where we slept and close to Yosemite, called Bodie.
On the way to Yosemite we toook some pictures of Mono Lake as well.
NatureYosemite - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 16 Sep, 2009 06:27:02
This morning we dove to the Gracier point in Yosemite to see the waterfall. We planned to go to the giant trees as well, but the road was closed.
After Yosemite we drove all the way to the coast to Carmel.
Driving from spot to spot17 mile drive & Highway 1 - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 17 Sep, 2009 02:07:05We just drove from Carmel over the 17 mile drive and highway 1 to San Francisco, where we have an hotel in chinatown.
The whole drive was near the coast line with a lot of sweet spots to take beautiful pictures.
Last daySan Francisco - Posted by Dirk van den Muijsenberg 18 Sep, 2009 07:33:13Today was Walter, Frank and my last day of the road trip.
Yesterday evening and today evening we went to a chinese restaurant in chinatown for dinner. Yesterday evening Matt left us as well, to go back to the UK.
Today we took the ferrie to Alcatraz and hired bikes to cycle the Golden Gate Bridge.
